This project provided an opportunity to create a small but visible intervention on the Manhattan street.  By creating a single object that was centered and brightly lit in the lobby of the residential building, the design announced itself to passers by while its tight functional construction allowed tenants to use the lobby as both a practical space. 

The restrictions of the space forced us to make a compact object that had maximal effect and use. Both simple and sculptural, the millwork mailbox became the marker of the building.
