This is the first building of a master plan for 250 acres of land in Upstate New York which will provide a studio, gallery and art storage building, library, artist in residence and visitor center. more buildings will be added with the foundation’s consolidation.

Since the existing site had a series of barns; a common typology in Upstate, the new design proposes a series of new barns that play with the proportions of existing typology as well as materials and programmatic variations. The new building, a carefully detailed modern barn uses passive building technologies to provide heating and cooling.
