PROJECT

Cloud Tower

LOCATION: Keulap, Peru
CLIENT: Culture National Institute of Peru
YEAR: 2007
TYPE: Hotel, Museum
PHASE: Competition
SIZE: 16,000 sf
TEAM: collaboration with Tudor Timotin

Hanging in the air, the Cloud Tower both gives and receives.  As it immerses visitors into the site, the tower also is itself immersed in the clouds and fog, from which it extracts water.  Through its “morphing” capabilities, the structure is able to harmonize its seemingly conflicting purposes, minimal intrusion on its surroundings through a “soft” presence and careful integration, while providing the best phenomenological experience.

The volume changes based on the needs of those who use it, thus creating a minimal impact on its surroundings and presenting an ever changing face to its inhabitants.  It is through these attributes that the Cloud Tower is a true gate to the land of the cloud people.
