Touching Me Softly was a 2 week design-build workshop done by 20 students.that created a prototype tiny house on a small trailer. It was meant to be occupied by one or two people and to be used as a single room space that would be convertible from a bedroom to a dining or workspace and to a living room. To do this students were asked to map their bodies in positions of lying down, working, sitting; so that the space could be used for multiple functions. The interior became a negotiation of the space of the body between resting, sleeping, working, eating, relaxing and sitting.
The overall design works between traditional manufacturing techniques and the computational design/build technologies. The prototype is a model for something that could become either a larger in scale, similar to a RV or as a modular unit that would connect multiple of these prototypes together into a cluster of spaces with each containing different functions.
