The UN Economic Council of Africa building expands the UN campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  It provides a new state of the art office building and upgrades the facilities that are available to the UN in Ethiopia.  The building has two wings that are offset on a central atrium space.  

The design uses many passive cooling strategies to help keep the need for air conditioning to a minimum.  This is most visible with the almost exaggerated gesture of the curved hanging concrete panel in front of the atrium glass.  This provides shade to the atrium as well as giving the building a distinctive feature.
