This design for a rooftop in Brooklyn looks not only at what could be done with the limited materials and scope that we had been given to start with.  It also asked what else could be done, both realistically and beyond.  This allowed us to dream big and explore different possibilities.  Instead of thinking small and practical this allowed us to design a fully developed space that the client could build toward in phases.

While the client was initially surprised and skeptical about the dream big approach, it led to discussions about what they really wanted from the rooftop and how we could achieve it both in the short term and in the long term.   We were then able to reverse engineer a smaller portion of the overall design based on the initial scope.   The hope is that every summer we can add a little more until the ultimate dream is realized.
