Opening night at the Adams was the most anticipated event in Dunkirk that year.  Local dignitaries, including the mayor, the newspaper, and administration from the local SUNY college came to see what we had done on a shoestring budget and a lot of personal labor.  The result was unmitigated success as both an event and a fundraiser.

The opening not only included our work to repair the building but also two temporary installations.  The first was an extension of the entry with a CNC built waffle framed canopy.  This declared the building open and welcomed everyone into the new Adams.  Inside the building, the repairs were not complete and significant parts of the floor had been removed due to water damage.  To prevent guests from entering this area, we installed a neon string “snake” that wrapped around what remained of the mezzanine and in front of the damaged areas. This highlighted the work that still needed to be done and the possibilities that new art and culture could bring to the space.
