This project was for a weekend house in the Poconos.  Not quite a ski chalet, but meant to reflect that aesthetic, design, and feel, the house features a rich wood siding, large deck area, and vaulted ceilings with expansive views.  The consistency of the material, red brown stained cedar, creates a uniformity that belies the complexity of the form.  Other than the main living area, the other spaces in the house are smaller and more intimate.  The massing of the house follows these smaller spaces, creating an articulated envelope.  This creates the opposite effect of not seeing the forest for the trees.  Here instead the ins and outs of the form are camouflaged by the ubiquitous materiality of the cedar.
